How to Keep Your Hair Color Vibrant in the Florida Sun

Woman with vibrant colored hair outdoors in sunlight

You left the salon with gorgeous color — now the Florida sun wants to take it. Here in Lake Worth Beach, UV rays, salt water, chlorine and humidity all work against colored hair. The good news: a few habits make a big difference.

Shield your hair from the sun

UV exposure fades color and dries out hair, just like it damages skin. A hat or a leave-in product with UV protection is your best friend on beach days and boat days.

Rinse before and after swimming

Hair is like a sponge — if it's already full of clean water, it absorbs less chlorine or salt. Rinse your hair before you swim, and wash or rinse again as soon as you get out.

Wash smarter

Wash with lukewarm or cool water — hot water opens the cuticle and lets color escape. Use a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo, and don't wash more often than you need to. Dry shampoo can stretch the days between washes.

Keep up with treatments

Colored hair needs moisture. A regular conditioning treatment keeps hair soft, shiny and strong between color appointments. Ask us about treatments at your next visit to El Encanto Beauty Salon & Spa — call (561) 312-2203 to book.
